概要 | A language cannot be taught. A teacher can guide, facilitate, and motivate, but a language must be experienced. Students may be disheartened to hear this at first but it is only after this realization that meaningful learning can take place. The Media Topic Discussion is a classroom strategy designed to help students to become aware of what they already know so they can concentrate on what they need whilst developing the autonomy to learn English in a dynamic and spontaneous setting. Student-generated, authentic material is used so that students are motivated to express ideas of genuine interest rather than those prescribed by a textbook. By giving students guidelines they can understand, as well as the freedom to make their own choices, they will soon find that they must ultimately take responsibility for their own learning. As language teachers, success can only be found in making ourselves redundant. |
